Locate your mains stopcock inside your property. This will be where the mains water pipe enters your property. Once you have shut the mains water off by turning the valve clockwise to make sure to open all taps to drain the system of water.
Check for an isolating valve on the pipework feeding the service or appliance, this could be an inline isolation valve for example.
All properties will have a mains stopcock outside of the building belonging to the water supplier which will isolate the mains water into your property.
Minimise the mess in your property by turning on all taps to drain all pipework and any header tanks you may have.
If you have a WC or waste leak try not to continue to use this appliance to minimise potential damage.
